That’s an open clubface at impact.

The ball starts left of your target and curves right. Nearly every slice comes from the face pointing right of the path when you strike it. Three things to try on the range:

1Turn your lead hand a touch stronger at address, so you can see two knuckles.
2Feel the toe of the club rotating over the heel through impact. Half swings first, ten balls.
3Aim the clubface at the target before you set your feet, not after.
A slice is a pattern, and a pattern is what a lesson fixes. Your top 3 PGA Professionals are below. Matt at Fields Ranch works on exactly this.

PGA Coach, in the app · complementing the existing PGA Coach effort

The golfer asks now. The PGA Golf Professional gets the lesson.

Built to complement the existing PGA Coach effort, not replace it. A swing question should not wait a week. Golfer ID answers in seconds, then hands the golfer to a PGA Professional nearby. The app cannot finish the job. Only the lesson can.
1 THE GOLFER ASKS NOW A question, or a swing video, inside the app they already open. 2 IN SECONDS AN INSTANT TIP Two sentences. What it is not
Not a coaching platform
PGA Coach keeps the booking and the payment. We send it the golfers at no charge.
Not a lesson
One tip, once. Every answer ends with the PGA Golf Professional’s name.
PGA certified
The PGA of America approves every tip. A benefit the Association owns.
More first questions answered. More lessons booked. More golfers who stay. Lessons are how PGA Members who are coaches earn income. This sends them the golfers, at no charge to the Professional or the facility.
Current response time to a golfer’s swing question, about 7 days, per PGA of America staff via Mark Harrison · PGA Coach: 6,000+ coaches, 1M+ lessons booked (pga.coach)
The PGA’s own tee time platform · phase one, before the PGA Show

A brand-new tee sheet for the game, on a commerce engine that already works.

The facility

The easy button for the facility.

Nothing about the facility’s day changes. What it already does becomes an identity, a reward, and a reason for the golfer to come back.

Nothing to build
No software, no hardware, no training.
Nothing given away
Brands fund the rewards, not the facility.
Nothing taken
The facility keeps its own customer data.
NGCOA Operator’s Bill of Rights, 2018. This meets all eight points, and the coalition that published it was co-founded by the NGCOA and the PGA of America
Data ownership

The PGA of America owns the data. A facility sees its own golfers.

THE PGA OF AMERICA OWNS AND HOUSES THE DATA One Golfer ID, every fan to every Member 1 FACILITY A SEES ITS OWN GOLFERS Who played here, how often, what they spent 2 FACILITY B SEES ITS OWN GOLFERS Who played here, how often, what they spent 3 FACILITY C SEES ITS OWN GOLFERS Who played here, how often, what they spent THE GOLFER · ONE GOLFER ID, ONE APP, EVERY FACILITY THEY PLAY · OPTS IN AT SIGN-UP
Owned by the PGA of America
One identity for every golfer, held by the game’s governing body.
Scoped to the facility
A facility gets the golfers who play there. Never where else they play.
Kept by the facility
Its own list, its own relationship with its own customers, untouched.
The Amex model: the network holds the member and the points, the merchant keeps its own customer profile · access rules are set by the PGA of America at the scoping workshop
What it gives PGA Members

Another benefit of PGA membership.

In addition to everything PGA membership already provides, this is another tangible, direct benefit. And it arrives at their facility rather than being asked of it.
It reaches a facility through the PGA Professional
Facilities get the platform through the PGA Member they employ. Employing one is worth more than it was.
A capability none of them could build alone
No individual PGA Professional could build this at their own facility, on their own time, out of their own budget.
They can tell an owner what it is worth
Who came back, who is drifting, and what that is worth in rounds. The Professional becomes the person with the answer.
And it funds PGA REACH.
Half of every Golfer ID+ subscription is directed to the Foundation, bringing awareness to the important work the PGA does. New recurring funding for Jr. League, HOPE and WORKS, from golfers nobody could name before.
Photography: PGA REACH · PGA of America REACH Foundation, 2025 program disclosures: 3,096 PGA Jr. League scholarships in 2025, more than 65,000 veterans served through PGA HOPE over ten years, 150 college graduates through PGA WORKS since 2017

Who the 44 million actually are

Six different people. Six ways in. One identity underneath.

The unidentified are not one group, which is why one program has never reached them. Each enters differently and each leaves for a different reason.
The beginner
Tried golf once. Three of every four never come back.
A first round reward and a reason to come back within the month.
The championship spectator
Buys tickets to the PGA Championship or the Ryder Cup.
The ticket becomes an identity that carries on long after the event.
The off course player
Simulator, range and entertainment venues.
The same Golfer ID works indoors and out, so the game finally sees them at all.
The lapsed golfer
Used to play. Stopped. Nobody noticed. 4.42M a year.
Flagged while there is still time, and given a reason to come back after.
Juniors, families and veterans
Everyone REACH touches through Jr. League, HOPE and WORKS.
Junior pathways and bring a friend rewards, and finally an answer to what happened next.
The committed golfer
Already plays every week and already spends.
Recognition, streaks and status that make their facility worth more to them.
